Kapurpurawan Rock Formation

The Manila airport has framed photos of the Kapurpurawan Rock Formation captured at sunset. It was the perfect teaser to get us more excited as we were waiting to board our Manila-Laoag flight.

The Kapurpurawan Rock Formation was part of our Day 2 itinerary thanks to J2F Ilocos Travel and Tours

After visiting Cape Bojeador Lighthouse, the iconic rock formations were our next stop.

We couldn't help but take photos once we got there. Although we were also visiting the Bangui Windmills after and the windmills in the above photo are actually new, smaller and not yet functional (according to our guide), the winding road dotted with windmills was too picturesque to resist.

Once you're there, you can choose to walk or go horseback riding for P100.

As we traveled, I saw a few horses freely grazing. The guide then informed me that they allow the horses to roam freely and that they go "home" by themselves when it's feeding (horse feeds) time. I was glad. The horses, although domesticated, are happy here I hope.

The Kapurpurawan Rock Formations got its name from the Ilocano word "puraw" which means "white".

By the way, I would also like to point out that our tour guides (like the others in all the other tourist destinations in Ilocos) are well-versed with cameras and are even able to capture great candid shots. Lol.

Of course, there's not much else to do here except take photos but even the camera-shy will appreciate the one-of-a-kind beauty of this place.
