City Girl or Country Girl (Feat. Dresslily)
I've never thought I was particularly a "city girl" but I've never thought I would be a "country girl" either. Perhaps I've got too much city in me to be country, and perhaps country is too quiet for me to give up the city. If you've been following this blog for a while, you'd know I moved from the busy city of Cebu to starting a new life in Adelaide. This time, I moved 2 hours away from Adelaide, to a tiny town called Moonta for a work opportunity. I'm still in the process of adjusting to country life.

- Pizza any day, any time.
- Dumplings.
- Milk tea.
- Why is this list about food now? Because I love how there is a variety of different cuisines available.
- Why is this list about food now? Because I love how there is a variety of different cuisines available.
- Easy access to all kinds of services, with lots of options.
- The easy transport options - train, bus, taxi, walk.
- The fashion! And being able to wear what I want without people staring at me.
- The cultural diversity.
- The night lights. It is literally dark in the country at night.
Perhaps this outfit is a hybrid between country and city because I am personally feeling midway. I also love the print and cutout shoulders on this Dresslily top (HERE), and the unique slit in the middle of this denim skirt (HERE). I was also pleasantly surprised at how sturdy this wide brim fedora hat was which is only $8.06 (HERE).

What I Love About The Country (and why it's not so bad as long as I've got my husband with me):
- Peace and quiet.
- Fresh air.
- Wide open space. Feel free to go jogging anywhere.
- No traffic! Literally.

- Wide open space. Feel free to go jogging anywhere.
- No traffic! Literally.
- Most things are cheap and affordable.
- The rent is only a third of what it would be in the city.
- And because there's not all that much to do, you get to save save save.
- The people are so nice and helpful.
- Fishing and crabbing anyone? Walk or drive to the jetty and easily get free squid and crabs during a good catch day!
And here's an "oops" photo just because!
Are you a city girl or a country girl? What do you love about the city/country?

Congrats on the new job and kudos for leaving the City! I so understand the culture adjustment. Oh! My older sis lives in Melbourne, btw. She's a Training Manager there, I am not certain if she is ready to say goodbye to the City life. LOL. I love your unique fashion sense. You look amazing! xoxo.

I am a city girl, but I am very lucky to live in a city that is big, but still feels small as in much space and greenery.

ReplyDeleteI'm not a city girl at all, I like the country but at the same time I like a bit more buzz too. I guess I'm a country, small city kinda girl haha ;) I love the fresh air of the countryside and the peace and quiet.

I was born at the province but live in the city my whole life. I rarely visit the hometown but everytime I do it makes me think how I love the slow pace of life in the province and the simple and healthy life there.

An insightful post :) I like a mixture of both the countryside and the city, my heart is strung more so towards rural life because I like the peacefulness of it.
ReplyDeleteThink there are plus sides to everything and if you can enjoy the best of both then you're on to a winner :)

That is a very difficult question! I've never lived outside the city (I lived in Baguio and mostly in Manila). But I always enjoy the quiet days in the province where there is no electricity at night, no water sometimes and the friendliness of the people. I guess I will always live in the city because there is work in the city but escapes to the province from time to time will always be a good idea. :)

That is such a cool outfit... It's almost summer there, right? We're going into winter here, and I hate it :D I have to say I'm a little bit of both... I love the city, because of all the options you have, and it's never boring. But sometimes I just need some peace and quiet... That's why I love that I'm at uni in the city, but go back home to the country almost every weekend... I get a little bit of both on a weekly basis :) Great post xx

I think I'm a little bit of both? Suburbs I guess? I love being in the city because of the restlessness and the easy access to everything. Like all the food you mentioned! But the quite togetherness of the countryside is also very appealing as well. I've never lived in the country before though so I don't know if it's just this romanticized allure that interests me or not. Regardless, I love your top! The cutouts are definitely my favorite and I love the print on the front too. It's very boho and looks really good with the whole outfit
