Exploring The State Library of South Australia (Plus Rosegal Review)
It's quite amazing that despite living in Adelaide for over 2 years, I had yet to visit the state library of South Australia. On this day, I decided to make like Dora and take my mini leather backpack exploring.
Now, I don't usually (hardly ever, or almost never) wear backpacks, but cute backpacks have been so on trend, I thought this one from Rosegal was too cute to resist.
Rosegal backpack review: Quality, Pricing, and Shipping
I was quite surprised that for $21.63, this faux leather flapped backpack was actually quite soft and lovely to touch. The quality was quite good and exceeded my low expectations in consideration of the price. Even more surprising was the fact that the backpack could be converted into a sling bag by bringing the straps up through the clasp - this was not included in the website's description which is why it came as a pleasant surprise. The bag arrived in approximately 2-3 weeks shipping time to Adelaide, Australia.
Needless to say, it was the perfect bag to take with me as I strolled around the city and found myself in the beautiful State Library of South Australia. These photos were of course shot in the Mortlock Wing - the interiors of which have secured this library's place on the world's most beautiful libraries list.
According to the official website, the library opened to the public in 1884. It's no wonder that you somehow feel like you've stepped into an essential piece of history once you enter. The books are old and beautiful. It's no wonder why there are also security personnel who roam around the library. Obviously, these books are highly valuable and are well preserved and are therefore not up to be borrowed.
In this Shakespearean themed area of the library that only opens for a couple of hours a day, I even found this most intricate copy of Gulliver's Travels. I highly recommend visiting this library if you ever find yourself in Adelaide - even if it's only for some serious Harry Potter feels.
Always,
Jeanne
